La Couronne is reputedly the oldest inn or auberge in France dating from 1345 and provides a warm and comfortable ambiance with wooden beams and fireplaces. The list of past visitors includes many of the rich and famous such as Salvador Dali.
La Couronne is located in the midst of the old town Rouen on the place du Vieux-Marché. Rouen is Upper Normandy's most important and beautiful city.
There restaurant has a number of dining rooms on different floors and offers high-class very traditional Norman cuisine under the care of chef Vincent Taillefer who changes the menus every month. There is a range of menus available but you can also eat à la carte. One of the most famous dishes is Canard Rouenaise or Rouen Duck. There is also a good choice of fish, shellfish and Normandy raised beef, lamb and pork.
As one would expect in such a renowned restaurant, there is a good choice of wines, most at affordable prices. The restaurant is open every day.
