WATER restrictions are now in force in parts of Normandy and in a total of 32 departments.

Restrictions  are in force in Seine-Maritime  and in Eure where there have been prolonged dry spells this year.

In the areas with restrictions swimming pools may not be filled,nor can one  wash cars or use hosepipes. It is also recommended to shower rather than take baths.

The Ecology Ministry said  we need to use water carefully even though the weather is not as dry as in the droughts of 2003 and 2006.

You could also check the website of your department’s prefecture, or visit your mairie: if there are restrictions they should usually advertise it.

You can be fined for failure to respect the restrictions although it is more a question of civic duty and being aware of the water shortages  and therefore not being wasteful  .
