Description:
Originally programmed for October this year, the final 45km section of the A88 from Sées in Orne to Falaise in Calvados will open to traffic on August 26. An inauguration ceremony is to take place at 11am at the Ronai péage. The A88 links Caen to Alençon.
Thanks to the technical and logistical achievement of the builders, the motorway will be finished in record time, two months ahead of schedule thereby enabling France's August holiday takers to return home.
The motorway was subject of a massive study to preserve the ecological balance in the sensitive areas that it crosses notably around the upper Orne and its tributaries. The river is crossed by a 350 metre long viaduct.
The Sées to Falaise section of the A88 has an access at Nécy and at Argentan West where there is also a service station.
