Description:
The harvest is now well under way in Normandy and farmers will be working late with their combine harvesters before any rain. It is likely that across Normandy temperatures will start to fall this coming weekend with the possibility of heavy rain in some parts on Sunday or Monday.
In Upper Normandy to-day temperatures were in the 30'sC with 34°c being posted in Rouen. There has been little appreciable rain for several weeks, lawns are dried up and the upper sections of many rivers being very low. This is in contrast to some other parts of France including Aquitaine and Auvergne where intermittent heavy belts of rain have passed through.Even Paris has had a few hours of rain recently.
Normandy weather seems to mirror that in the South-East and east of England where the situation is similar. In the North-West of England a hose-pipe ban has been introduced. This seems unlikely here in Normandy if the expected heavy rain in Upper Normandy arrives at the weekend. In Lower Normandy some rain is forecast but it it is not clear if this will amount to very much and storms may be localised.
