Description:
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Deauville, La Poste is issuing a special stamp. At the same time, a number of temporary post offices are being opened in the town so that people can send a postcard bearing the stamp. The offices will be at Place de la gare, Place Morny, Place de la Mairie and Place François André and will be open from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 May.
The celebrations will also include a number of exhibitions. The first will be on 15 May to celebrate the issue of the stamp and will tell the history from 1860 to 2000 of air and rail post from Deauville. The exhibitions will take place at key locations in the town such as the place de la Gare and the place de la Mairie.
The Deauville stamp has been designed by Nicolas Vial a past student of the Beaux Arts de Paris, who since 1982 has worked for many leading newspapers and magazines. He has also designed posters for the cinema and has been involved with the design of postage stamps from 2003.
