Introduction
Pourville-sur-Mer is a small seaside village popular with holidaymakers for its pretty setting on the Cote d'Albatre and small pebble beach with sand at low-tide.
Geography
Pourville is situated on the north coast of Seine-Maritime just west of Dieppe at the mouth of the river Scie. It is part of the commune of Hautot-sur-Mer. It is at the foot of the chalk cliffs of the Cote d'Albatre.
Economy
Pourville is mainly a holiday and tourist village and satellite of Dieppe and there are many holiday homes to rent as well as several Chambres d'Hote.
Commerce
There are several restaurants and brasseries both at Pourville and Hautot mainly aimed at the holiday market. These include fish restaurants like the restaurant ‘Aux Produits de la Mer’.
Culture
Nearby is the Chateau de Miromesnil where the 19th century writer Guy de Maupassant was born and where he spent the first three years of his life. Many of his short stories and novels reflect the Normandy he knew, especially peasant life at that time.
Tourism
Pourville has a popular beach which is sandy as the tide recedes but ther are many other attractions in the area including the Chateau de Miromesnil and the Dieppe fish market.
