Château Gaillard

Built in 1196 by Richard Coeur de Lion , Duke of Normandy and King of England, the Château Gaillard was virtually impregnable in its time. The castle occupies a magnificent position high on the chalk cliffs overlooking the Seine valley in Upper Normandy and is worth visiting just for the extensive and beautiful views as well as for its interesting and romantic past and its place in the history of France.

Les Andelys

Les Andelys itself is a bustling market town with pleasant walks along the river and at least one very good restaurant.
