Introduction
The cathedral is a considerable attraction for visitors to the town of Bayeux in addition to the famous Tapestry.
Parts of the building date date from the 11th century. The facade and towers date from the 13th century. The building has many Norman-Romanesque sculptures, a beautiful choir and 15th century frescoes. There is a fine portal and tympanum which includes a graphic representation of the murder of Thomas a'Beckett in Canterbury cathedral on the orders of Henry II of England.
