Description:

Introduction

The French Fire Service Museum (Musée des Sapeurs-Pompiers de France) takes you into an exciting world of the 'men of fire' through an exceptional historical collection of manual fire pumps, motorised fire engines, helmets, uniforms and documents in a display covering 2,500 square metres.

The collection pays homage to the fire fighter's profession which is traced over three centuries. On display are the great names of the French automobile and fire engine history: Delahaye, Laffly, Hotchkiss, Somua, Berliet and De Dion Bouton.

The museum's unique hand fire pump is the oldest in France, dating back to 1721, and was operated by the firemen of Rouen.
